New examination

How to start a new examination (Information)

1. Fill patient information in the left menu (Height, Weight, Blood pressure, Pulse).
• it´s necessary to fill in height and weight (Some of the parameters are BSA indexed).
2. Continue the examination in the top menu (Left ventricle, LV diastolic function... ).
3. You´ll find measured parameters and echocardiogram report in the top menu: Summary.

• Continue in examination in the top menu (Left ventricle, LV diastolic function... )
• You´ll find measured parameters and echocardiogram report in the top menu: Summary.

• when pressed, all measured informations will be deleted.
• Press "Start NEW examination" if you want to examine a new patient.

Height

Pacient height

• It´s used to calculate: BMI and BSA.
• Each echocardiographic examination must include BSA,
• because some parameters are indexed on the BSA.

Weight

Patient weight

• It´s used to calculate: BMI and BSA.
• Each echocardiographic examination must include BSA,
• because some parameters are indexed on the BSA.

BMI

Body mass index

• Calculation according to the formula: BMI = Weight / Height²

BSA

Body surface area

• Calculation according to the formula: BSA = [(Height * Weight) / 3600]^1/2
• Each echocardiographic examination must include BSA,
• because some parameters are indexed on the BSA.

Age

Patient age

• The values of some echocardiographic parameters correlate with age:
• Age-related increases in left ventricular mass and wall thickness.
• Slight decrease in left ventricular internal diastolic and systolic dimensions.
• The left atrium and aortic root show significant age-related dilation.
• The valve leaflets thicken, and there is an age-related increase in physiologic valvular regurgitation.
• There are important alterations in left ventricular diastolic filling, with decreased early and increased atrial filling velocity.

BP

Blood pressure

• The patient should have normal blood pressure during the echocardiographic examination.

MAP

Mean arterial pressure

• Calculation according to the formula: MAP = 1/3(systole) + 2/3(diastole)

HR

Heart rate

• The patient should have normal heart rate during the echocardiographic examination.
• In the case of arrhythmia (atrial fibrillation, tachycardia, bradycardia, extrasystoles),
• some measured echocardiographic parameters are deviated.
